All Lanes of Eastbound SR-52 Closed for Two Weekends
SAN DIEGO –Construction crews from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close eastbound State Route 52 during daylight hours between Interstate 805 and SR-163 to repair dip in the roadway. These closures will take place this weekend and next from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The freeway reopens to traffic after 6 p.m. each weekend evening.
Access to the Miramar Landfill, from the freeway, will be available from the westbound direction only. The I-805 ramps to eastbound SR-52 will be closed, along with the eastbound ramps from SR-52 at Convoy Street and Genesee Avenue.
“Depending on progress, we may only need to close the eastbound direction for only one weekend,” said Caltrans Construction Engineer Mike Moen. “We could start work on the westbound lanes as early as Jan. 24”
Hours for all of the weekend work will remain the same. Signs are in place to alert motorists of the closure. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and seek alternative routes.
