Construction Begins between Centre City Parkway and 9th Avenue for the I-15 Express Lanes Project
SAN DIEGO –Construction will begin Monday from Centre City Parkway north to 9th Avenue as part of the ongoing Interstate 15 (I-15) Express Lanes project, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Motorists are advised that construction workers will place temporary concrete barriers along the right shoulders in preparation for striping and a lane shift to the left. Construction will take place on both northbound and southbound I-15, and is expected to continue through the end of 2011.
This portion of construction is approximately three miles long and is part of the north segment of the $1.3 billion Express Lanes project. Cost of the north segment is approximately $250 million and funded through a combination of federal, state and local sources, including the voter approved TransNet program.
Construction of the I-15 Express Lanes will be completed at the end of 2012. Caltrans will make every effort to minimize disruption to the public during construction. For more information on the I-15 Express Lanes project, call the project information hotline at (866) 890-1397 or log onto www.KeepSanDiegoMoving.com.
