OPPORTUNITY:
This annual event will enact a memorial ceremony displaying 170 orange highway cones to signify each of the Caltrans workers killed statewide since 1924. There will be a moment of silence and highway workers will give a tribute to their fallen co-workers by reading the names of those who have lost their lives. A special reflection will be offered acknowledging the addition of four cones—three representing the three recent losses suffered in the last year and a fourth representing a past loss newly found. Highway workers who have been involved in close calls on the freeway will be available for interviews.
