Construction Begins on Interstate 15
Between State Route 56 and Mira Mesa Boulevard
SAN DIEGO –Motorists traveling on southbound Interstate 15 in the North County Area are advised that lanes will be shifted to the left starting Monday evening as part of the ongoing construction of the Interstate 15 Managed Lanes Project, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
The lane switch will take place on I-15 between State Route 56 and Mira Mesa Boulevard. Construction workers will add temporary concrete barriers along the shoulder, at the Poway Road/Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard ramps, the Mercy Road undercrossing and ramps and the Mira Mesa Boulevard off- ramp.
Work through the area will continue Sundays through Thursdays, from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. for about two weeks. This is the start of construction on the South Segment of the project, and it may be noisy at times. Caltrans will make every effort to keep noise levels at a minimum.
The South Segment will join the Middle Segment currently under construction on this 20-mile, $1 billion project. The South Segment stretches from SR-163 north to SR-56.
