Next “Puzzle Pieces” Unearthed for State Route 52 Improvements
SAN DIEGO –The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) hosted a ceremony today to break ground on the extension of State Route 52 (SR-52) through the city of Santee. This project will build a four lane freeway from State Route 125 to Cuyamaca Street.
Caltrans District Director Pedro Orso-Delgado, Lemon Grove Mayor and San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Chair Mary Teresa Sessom, Santee City Councilmember and SANDAG Transportation Committee Vice Chair Jack Dale and a representative from the California Department of Water Resources each made comments offering their support for the completion of the projects.
“These next two pieces of the puzzle mark the long-awaited start of construction to extend SR-52.” said Orso-Delgado. “This represents the first of many upcoming projects along the corridor funded by the TransNet half-cent sales tax to improve mobility across the region.”
Other construction planned along the corridor includes the extension of SR-52 from Cuyamaca to State Route 67 (SR-67) and a new interchange at SR-67.
