WHO: Top officials from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), the California Department of Water Resources and the city of Santee.
WHAT: A community event to celebrate the New Year and start of construction on the latest two segments of the State Route 52 Project. Construction recently began on the four-lane freeway from SR-125 east to Cuyamaca Street in the city of Santee and in the coming months work will begin on the truck lanes from Santo Road to Mast Boulevard. These two segments are among a total of five segments that will construct the freeway between SR-125 and SR-67 at a cost of $600 million.
WHEN: Saturday, Jan. 19, starting at 11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Adjacent to the city of Santee Public Services Operation Center at 9534 Via Zapador.

OPPORTUNITY:
The event will feature speakers Caltrans District Director Pedro Orso-Delgado, Lemon Grove Mayor and SANDAG Chair Mary Teresa Sessom and a representative from the California Department of Water Resources. The emcee for the event will be Santee City Councilmember and SANDAG Transportation Committee Vice Chair Jack Dale. The event will conclude with a countdown fitting of New Year’s Eve and the unearthing of two of the five SR-52 puzzle pieces. Refreshments will be provided.
