One Lane of Interstate 8 Closed in Imperial County

EL CENTRO – The California Department of Transportation will close one lane on Interstate 8 in Imperial County from Drew Road to State Route 111, starting this Wednesday. This portion of the highway will be closed weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for approximately two weeks. The closure is needed to do routine pavement rehabilitation maintenance work.
During the closure crews will also be working on every on- and off-ramp within the project limits. However, only one on- or off-ramp will be closed at any one time. No two consecutive ramps will be closed at one time. Detour signs will be posted in advance of each closure.
Motorists who normally use the ramps within the work zone are encouraged to give themselves extra time to travel through the detour. Construction crews will be working adjacent to live traffic, please use caution when driving though the work zone.
