State Route 52 Widening to Begin Sunday

SAN DIEGO – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin work to widen westbound State Route 52 (SR-52) this Sunday, Nov. 12. The existing truck-climbing lane is being extended from Mast Boulevard to the Santo Road interchange in San Diego. The work will take place each day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Vehicle traffic will not be impacted by the roadwork; however, the SR-52 bike lane will be closed and no bike traffic will be allowed through the area for about one month. Bicyclists are advised to travel on alternate routes.

The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2007. A similar closure will take place next September on the eastbound lanes between Santo Road and Mast Boulevard.
