MEDIA ADVISORY - Sign of the Times

WHO: California Department of Transportation District Director Pedro Orso-Delgado and other state transportation experts.

WHAT: A media availability to unveil the latest freeway traffic congestion tool. “It’s a Sign of the Times” will feature estimated travel times posted during peak commute hours on electronic freeways signs starting this week. Commuters may use these times to help gauge traffic congestion and figure if an alternate route may help them save time.

WHEN: The media availability will take place this Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the Caltrans/California Highway Patrol Transportation Management Center (TMC), located at 7183 Opportunity Road in Kearny Mesa, San Diego.

WHERE: The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. Parking will be reserved at the front of the TMC. Go to the lobby and you will be escorted to the observation room for the presentation.

OPPORTUNITY:
District Director Pedro Orso-Delgado will make brief comments outlining the “It’s a Sign of the Times” program and answer questions. This program is being used in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Orange County. There will be video displays of the signs in operation and examples of the Caltrans Real-Time Traffic Website at dot.ca.gov/sdtraffic.
