Interstate 15 Set for Closure
to Demolish North Side of Ted Williams Parkway Bridge

SAN DIEGO The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close all lanes of Interstate 15 (I-15) between Ted Williams Parkway and Carmel Mountain Road from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., each day starting Monday, 10/2 through Thursday, 10/5.

The eastbound lanes of State Route 56 (SR-56) over I-15 will be closed on the same days from 11 p.m. until 4:30 a.m.  However, the on-ramp to southbound I-15 from eastbound SR-56 will be open to traffic.  Detours signs will be posted in advance of the closures

This work is part of a $427 million effort to build the “Middle Segment” of the I-15 Managed Lanes freeway improvement project.  When completed and opened to traffic by late 2007 or early 2008, the freeway will feature state-of-the-art lanes in the roadway median, which will service carpools, multi-occupant vehicles and transit.  Single-occupant vehicles will also have access to the managed lanes for a fee.

Over the next several months, motorists will see concrete evidence of the continued progress of construction of the I-15 Managed Lanes.  The freeway overcrossing that spans I-15 at Highland Valley Road, also known as Pomerado Road, should be completed by early 2007.

Caltrans will make every effort to minimize any disruption to the public during this closure.  For information on this and other project closures, motorists may phone the
I-15 Managed Lanes Hotline at (866) 890-1397.
