OVERALL GOALS
THE PROJECT
The project proposes to extend State Route 7 (SR-7) from State
Route 98 (SR-98) to Interstate 8 (I-8) in Imperial County. The
first phase of SR-7, completed March 1996, constructed 1.2 miles
of four-lane highway from the international border crossing to
SR-98. This second segment of SR-7 will improve service to the
new Calexico East Federal Port of Entry (POE) by providing a more
direct access to I-8. The new POE is located about 10.46 km (6.5
miles) east of the existing POE located in the City of Calexico
along the U.S./Mexico border.
PROJECT ALIGNMENT
The Orchard Road Alignment will construct the highway from
the terminus of the first segment of SR-7 at SR-98 north along
the Orchard Road corridor to I-8.
