Caltrans District 11 Construction Department has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better serve the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District 11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that Contract, but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory for public viewing.
The BIDDER'S INQUIRIES & RESPONSES will be updated continuously and all attempts will be made to do the final posting by 15:00 on the day prior to the bid opening.

Question=Hydro demolition is not compatible with polyester concrete when sequenced during a single closure. Water used in hydro demolition causes significant adhesion degradation and poor cure properties of PPC. Would the state consider other methods of deck removal to complete the project in specified time frames?

The method used to dry concrete is to be determined by the Contractor.

Question= Shotblasting is an unnecessary procedure after hydrodemolition has occurred. The deck is clean of all laitance, contaminants and foreign material if hydrodemolition is done correctly; furthermore, shotblasting on an uneven surface as is left after hydrodemo is inefficient and unnecessary; please confirm.
