Caltrans District 11 Construction Department has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better serve the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District 11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that Contract, but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory for public viewing.
The BIDDER'S INQUIRIES & RESPONSES will be updated continuously and all attempts will be made to do the final posting by 15:00 on the day prior to the bid opening.

Question= lane chart 14 & 15 are for "Freeway Lane Requirements" for Route 75. This section of Route 75 is traveling through Imperial Beach and has business, bus stops, driveways and on street parking on both sides of the street. Please revise the description of the lane requirements to more closely depict the actual conditions.

  • Lane Closure Charts 14 and 15 are correct.  The closure hours are based on delay times and access requirements.  Please bid per the current contract documents.

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= Traffic Control Charts

Question= In contract 11-296714, which is pending award, the Traffic Control Charts allow a shoulder closure during daylight hours for the same post miles as Contract 11-2M2404. Contract 11-296714 will be in progress during contract 11-2M2404. Please add these Traffic Charts to this contract as they are already allowed by TMC.

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= Item # 15, Asphaltic Emulsion(Fog Seal Coat),Q-2,10-1.19 Fog Seal Coat

Question= The Fog Seal Coat Specification referance's Section 37-1, "Seal Coats" of the Standard Specifications and these special provisions which attention begin ditected to "Order of Work". In the "Order of Work" only instruct's "the Contractor shall cover all manholes,valve and monument covers,grates or other exposed facilities located within the area of application, using a plastic or oil resistant construction paper secred to thefacility being covered by tape or adhesive." then referance these points and then expose apon completion.In reviewing the plans the only mention of the fog seal item is on page Q-2 "Summary of Quantities".
Can you provied futher information as to where and when the the fog seal is to be installed?
