Caltrans District 11 Construction Department has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better serve the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District 11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that Contract, but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory for public viewing.
The BIDDER'S INQUIRIES & RESPONSES will be updated continuously and all attempts will be made to do the final posting by 15:00 on the day prior to the bid opening.

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= Item #33 Class 2 Aggregate Base


Question= In the special provisions section 10-1.21 Earthwork, you tell us that the foundation treatment material below the retaining wall footing will be measured and paid for as structure backfill (retaining wall). On sheet Q-1 (summary of quantities) you list quantities for the Class 2 AB to be used in the structural section and then refer us to sheet R-1(retaining wall plan) for additional quantities of class 2. Sheet R-1 quantifies class 2 AB in the wall quantities that is used for foundation treatment. It then appears that you have added these two quantities together to come up with the Bid Quantity. This is confusing. Is the Foundation Treatment Being paid for by the CY as Class 2 AB in item #33 or as structure backfill in item#26? Please clairfy.

Question= The item calls for (10) one-post sign installations, but according to Plan Sheet SQ-1 (sheet 24) there are only (5) one-post and (4) two-post installs.
