the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District
11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by
any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that
Contract,
but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed
unsatisfactory
for public viewing.
The BIDDER'S

& RESPONSES will be updated continuously and all attempts will be
made
to do the final posting by 15:00 on Wednesday prior to the bid opening.

DD-1, DQ-1 Section 10-1.20 Concrete Structures. Question=Item # 10 of the Bid schedule lists a quantity of 30 CY. My calculations actually come out closer to 57 CY. Item # 10 is not final pay quantity. Will we be paid only on the 30 CY quantity or will we be paid on the actual quantity measured in the field?

Reference=Structure excavation and structure backfill Question= 1. Will the material excavated be suitable for use as backfill as long as it is clean and moisture conditioned?
2. The Special Provisions 10-1.22 speak of 85% compaction. Is this cover on the pipe considered "embankment"?
Does this 85% apply to the backfill to springline and cover of the pipes?

Reference=Item #7, Traffic Control System, Special Provisions 10-1.10,
Bid Item list Question=The bid item list does not include a line
item for K-rail, Crash cushions, Plastic drums. 1. If there is not a line
item for these traffic devises will they be required?
2. In the special
provisions 10-1.10 paragraph 6 says "the shoulder area shall be closed
as shown on the plans. The plans do not indicate how to close the
shoulder nor do the standard drawings include a detail for closing the
shoulder. What will be required to close the shoulder? What will be
required outside of working hours to separate the work area from the
open shoulder?
