The responses may be considered along with all other information furnished to prospective bidders for the purpose of bidding on the project. The availability or use of information provided in the responses to bidder' inquiries is not to be construed in any way as a waiver of the provisions of Section 2-1.03 of the Standard Specifications or any other provision of the contract, the plans, Standard Specifications or Special Provisions, nor to excuse the contractor from full compliance with those contract requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.
Caltrans District 11 Construction Department has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better serve the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District 11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that Contract, but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory for public viewing.
The BIDDER'S INQUIRIES & RESPONSES will be updated continuously and all attempts will be made to do the final posting by 15:00 on Wednesday prior to the bid opening.

Question= This contract is for a new rest area building and site improvements. The building portion of the work will require numerous specialty subcontractors. The breakdown of work does not lend itself to self-perform 30% of the work. We request that this requirement be waived or reduced to 15% for the project.

1) There is only 1 sign detail for the construction area signs.

2) Not sure where the crash cushion are to go. Please confirm.

  • Temporary Crash Cushions are required if needed per section 7-1.09 PUBLIC SAFETY of the Standard Specifications.

3) Is water and electrical provided to us?

  • Please refer to Section 12-1.03 "COOPERATION" of the Special Provisions.

4) Are the Caltrans project funding signs required and were?

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= 26 (IP-1) and 27 (IP-2).

Question= Pages 26 and 27 indicate 1" lateral lines connecting to several bubblers.  These pages also indicate 1" lateral lines ending abruptly without any bubblers attached to them.  Should there be bubblers attached to the 1" lateral lines, which do not connect to bubblers?  If not, where do they go?

  • The C-2 symbol is shown typical at the end of the valve system. The valve's call out (see valve code on sheet LD-1) indicates the quantity of C-2 bubblers on the valve or RCV. Since each tree is irrigated by a C-2, Contractor should refer to the Planting Plan for the C-2 locations.
