of the Standard Specifications or any other provision of the contract,
the plans, Standard Specifications or Special Provisions, nor to excuse

Caltrans District 11 Construction Department
has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better serve
the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District
11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by
any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that Contract,
but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory
for public viewing.
The BIDDER'S
INQUIRIES & RESPONSES will be updated continuously and all attempts
will be made to do the final posting by 12:00 on the Wednesday
prior to the bid opening day.

After the 0.3 meter has been compacted to 90 percent the Contractor shall replace the 0.6 meter and compact in accordance with Section 19-5... Is any of this removal, scarification, etc. to be measured and paid as roadway excavation?

The special provision sections on Clearing and Grubbing and Earthwork are silent on this issue. Do the contract documents REQUIRE the stripping and disposal of 0.15M of material from the entire surface of the project, or is this an estimate and an attempt to provide for the possibility of such loss of earth materials with sufficient borrow quantity allowed?

In sub-paragraph A of the above referenced section there is a requirement for server systems with dual Pentium IV processors. Pentium IV processors will not function in a dual processor system. If you put two P4 processors in a system, the second chip will be ignored. The fastest processor available that will function in a dual processor system is the Pentium III 1.4 GHz chip. Will this be acceptable?

The takeoff qty for the wall is approximately twice the "final pay" quantity on a normal job we would bid take takeoff with little concern. With the current bid format however, is this item really final pay in that the design is not final nor the plans signed? Please advise.
