Plan
Sheet / Specification
Reference=X-section sheet x-2,3,4 and detail sheet c-3 Question=The placement of the aerially deposited lead appears to extend beyond the pay limits for excavation as shown on sheets x-2,3 and 4. Is it Caltrans' intent to over excavate the roadway in order to place the aforenmentioned soil? If so, is this quantity accounted for and will be paid for in Bid Item 29?

Reference=Section 4 (page 102) Section 10-1.37 (page 186)-Pavement Concrete Mix Proportions and Field Qualification Question=The contract specifies a 50 Day Completion time as well as commencement within 90 days of the contract approval. The submittal process in Section 10-1.37 could be 90 days or longer even if a re-submittal is not required. With the fair and racing season from June 4th thru September 4th (with a 13 day break in between), was it Caltrans intent to not begin this project until near the end of these event seasons due to ramp closure restrictions? If not, will Caltrans waive these submittal requirements and/or accept submittals prior to Contract Approval?

Plan
Sheet / Specification
Reference=Plan Sheets SC-1 thru SC-12 Question=It appears from the layout of the Stage Construction Drawings and the Layout that it was the intent of the designer to commence and complete the concrete paving and associated work (sawcut, remove AC/Concrete, excavation, placement and compaction of lead deposited soil, aggregate base, asphalt base, jointing, 10-day curing, profiling, and grinding) in the 14-day allotted time frame for the closure of the ramps. Is this accurate?
time?
closures would be necesary during the Del Mar Fair time frame (June 4 thru 18) and/or the Del Mar racing season (July 4 thru September 4). What was the intent in this case?
