Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=

Question= This is an A plus B project.  There is a Grinding Residue Facility made from an earthen settlement pond as a part of this project.  Does this settlement pond have to be fully dried out, cleaned up and removed before the end of the A plus B period?  If the project finishes in the winter it could be months until this pond is dry enough to remove.

  • Please refer to sections 10-1.04 "TEMPORARY PORTLAND CEMENT CONCRETE (PCC) GRINDING RESIDUE FACILITY" Paragraphs 3 and 4 of the Special Provisions.

 R:09/20/07
Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= Item #28 Grind Existing PCCP, sheet X-18 and sheet Q-3.

Question= On plan sheets X-18 and Q-3, it shows grinding on the D-2B line. Are you sure that this ramp is to be re-ground. This ramp was ground, grooved and sealed only one year ago on 11-269504.

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= Item #28 Grind Existing PCCP, sheet X-17 and sheet Q-3.

Question= On plan sheets X-17 and Q-3, it shows grinding on the D-5A and the D-5B line. The quantities on Q-3 do not match the stations per the cross sections shown on X-17. • Sheet X-17 does not reflect any quantities. Please refer to Sheet 46 (Q-2) for D-5B quantities.

8

 Q:10/17/07
 R:XX/XX/07
Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= Item 28 - Grind Existing Concrete
Pavement & Item 23 - Rubberized Asphlat Concrete (Type G)

Question= Section 10-1.01 Order of Work, does not require the contractor
to install the rubberized aspahlt concrete after the grinding of the
existing concrete pavement and there is no requirement for the sawing
and sealing of the existing concrete joints so there is nothing
precluding the contractor from installing the aspahlt concrete prior to
the PCC grinding.  That being the case, once the rubberized asphalt
concrete is installed, and considering the pcc grinding will take off
1/32" to 3/8" of concrete from the roadway, the concrete roadway will be
slightly below the shoulder elevation thereby creating a form of
ponding.  Please clarify if there are any order of work restructions
surrounding the sequence of PCC grind and the installation of rubber
asphalt concrete.

  • Please refer to Section 10-1.28 "GRIND EXISTING CONCRETE PAVEMENT" of the Special Provisions.

9

 Q:10/18/07
 R:10/18/07
Plan Sheet / Specification Reference= General Question

Question= Are you ever going to answer Question #4? I am perplexed by you
non-responsiveness.
  • Please refer to question No. 4.

Also on this form would you consider removing the "field" for
location/postmile.
It seems redundant. If you can't find it by the contract number it can't be
found.
  • Thank you; your input is always appreciated.
