• Due to the Design Sequensing nature of this project, the DGAC (Dense Graded Asphalt Concrete) will be reflected as AC Type A and class 5 as class 4, in the deliverables. These are reflected in the Special provisions.

Based on a site visit, it appears that there is a large embankment in existence at this time that closely resembles the mew embankment to be constructed shown on the plans.

Question= Is there an additional embankment to be constructed requiring 350,000 M3 of "SELECT MATERIAL", or is all or part of the planned embankment already in existence, with the resultant serious impact on the potential for surplus material, which is the contractors' responsibility according to the specifications.

• The proposed 350,000 M3 refered to on page 694 of the plans is for the construction of "A3" as shown on page 257.

• Post award and approval of the contract, a no cost change order will be issued to eliminate the "Vegetable growth from clearing and grubbing operations may be disposed of in embankments in conformance with the provisions in "EARTHWORK" clause from SECTION 10-1.32 "CLEARING AND GRUBBING", of the Special Provisions for this contract. Therefore, disposal of vegetations in the embankment will not be allowed.

Question= Per section 10-1.20, page 230 of the special provisions, La Media UC requires two 15.9 meter False-work roadway openings and one 1.52 meter pedestrian opening during construction. However, per the construction staging plans, pages 543 and 544, construction of NB La Media will occur during stage 1. Upon the completion of stage 1, stage 2 requires the construction of SB La Media Blvd, the relocation of all roadway utilities and the construction of La Media UC simultaneously. It is also indicated on page 566 that there will be a two lanes and one shoulder opening in stage 2 and page 569 shows the South Bound lane of La Media closed during stage 2a. At no time will there be the required 15.9 meters of roadway in both directions to accommodate the required False-work openings. Please review this information and provide the suitable False-work openings for the correct staging of the La Media UC.

Please review and advise on page 439:  "The wall thickness tolerances for steel pipe 300 mm diameter and larger shall be governed by the requirements of the ASTM specifications to which the plates or sheets are ordered, but in no case shall the thickness be less than 6.35 mm or as directed by the Engineer.
This contradicts the ASTM specifications (for 6.35mm or 0.25in steel coil we have 0.25 nominal with a ASTM negative tolerance) Can not find steel coils with a min. 6.35 mm, only with a nominal 6.35mm.
