Caltrans District 11 Construction Department has developed this method of answering Bidders Inquiries to better serve the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects.

The BIDDER'S INQUIRIES & RESPONSES will be updated continuously with the last posting no later than 15:00 on Wednesday prior to the bid opening.

Caltrans District 11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by any of the registered Planholders for that Contract, but reserves the right not to answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory for public viewing.

1	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Addendum No.2 Is it your intent that the contractor handle the slurry residue twice? First, transport to a drying location and then haul the dry residue somewhere else. The interpretation is for the contractor to properly dispose of all residue, the number of times it is handled will be determined by the contractor.
2	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=PLAN SHEET #27, Item # 8 and Item # 9 LINE NO. 17 and 18 ARE THE IDENTICAL LOCATION. PLEASE CLARIFY. Line 17 and Line 18 are not identical locations. Line 16 and Line 17 are identified as the same location, per Section 2-1.03 EXAMINATION OF PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, CONTRACT, AND SITE OF WORK; of the Standard Specifications "The bidder shall examine carefully the site of work contemplated.....".
3	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=PLAN SHEET #27, Item # 8 and Item # 9 LINE NO. 21 REQUIRES 2 TEMP CRASH CUSH ON A SINGLE RUN. PLEASE CLARIFY. PLAN SHEET #27 ON WHICH SHOULDER IS THE K-RAIL TO BE PLACED? Line No. 21 is shown as Stage 2 on plan sheet 9, the location of k-rail is shown.
4	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=PLAN SHEET #27, Item # 8 and Item # 9 PLAN SHEET #27 NOTE REFERS TO A PLAN SHEET C-4, THERE IS NO PLAN SHEET C-4. PLEASE CLARIFY.** Refer to plan sheet C-3.
5	There is conflict between traffic chart 10 & 14. Stage 1 & Stage 2 shown on plan sheet 8 & 9 require a minimum of 3 ramp closures. There is no detour shown for the ramp closures for Regents Road. The requirements for Chart No. 10 are stated under the remarks and should be bid accordingly.
6	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Addendum No. 4 If this detail is to address the much discussed "AGGREGATE FIN" controversy, shouldn't there be a dimension indicated for the distance between centerlines of blades? No.
7	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Item # 29 GRIND EXISTING CONCRETE PAVEMENT Will there be an addendum effecting the specifications pertaining Item #29 before this Thursday's bid on the referenced contract? No.
8	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=MATERIALS INFORMATION BROCHURE DATED SEPTEMBER 3, 1999 Will there be any updates to this information? No. Per Addendum No. 2 the previously issued Materials Information Brochure dated September 3, 1999 is no longer valid and no locations will be provided. There is no "Materials Information" listing locations where grinding residue may be disposed of for this contract.
9	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Items 21, 22, 23, 24 & 25 The typical section shows no backfill behind the dike, but the existing field conditions have backfill behind the dike. To maintain existing conditions will backfill be replaced and how will it be paid since there is no item of pay for import borrow? Any backfill required is fully included in Items 21, 22, 23, 24, & 25 per Section 39-8.02 of the Standard Specifications: Full compensation for any necessary excavation, backfill and preparation of the area shall be considered as included in the contract price paid per meter for place aspahalt concrete dike and no additional compensation will be allowed therefor.
