BIDDER'S INQUIRY FORMAT

Caltrans District 11 Construction Department has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better serve the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Only when stated in the Special Provisions will contracts have posted INQUIRIES AND RESPONSES.
The BIDDER'S INQUIRIES & RESPONSES will be updated continuously with the last posting no later than 15:00 on Wednesday prior to the bid opening.
Caltrans District 11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that Contract, but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory for public viewing.

1	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Section 5-1.04 Public safety of the Special Provision Section 5-1.04 Public Safety of the Special Provision states that a lane of traffic shall be taken when working within 1.8M of the traffic. Please clarify this specification when working in one lane of a 2 lane freeway.
2	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Plan Sheets 11 of 24, 15 of 24, and 16 of 24 Dimensions on pages 11/24, 15/24 and 16/24 show shoulder width, lane width, roadway width of lanes less than one Meter. These cannot be correct. We request the correct dimension in order to verify quantities. For dimensions of existing structures as shown on the plans there are as-built plans of the original construction available at our District Office located in Old Town in our office or through Map Files. FOR INFORMATION ONLY: 14/24 10' outside, 48' lanes, 15' inside, not including transition area. 15/24 10' outside, 48' lanes, 8' inside. 16/24 8' outside, 24' lanes, 5' inside, not including transition area"
3	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Plan Sheet 13 of 24 Eighth St. UC: At Abutment 1 plans call for replace bridge deck. Pay Quantities show Structure Concrete Bridge. Is this where the item is paid? If so, where is the removal paid? Bid it as you see it.
4	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Page 21 of 24 Route 163/52 Abutment 3 joint seal assembly shows concrete to to be placed. The quantities do not show an item of Structure Concrete Bridge. Where is this item paid? Per Section 51-1.23 of the Standard Specifications all work involved in the joint seal assemblies shall be included in the item.
5	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Plan sheet 22 of 24 Route 163/805 Hinge calls for concrete at hinge. No quantity for structure Concrete Bridge in Quantities. Where is this paid? Bid it as you see it.
6	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Plan sheet 15 of 24 Need lane closure chart for CB-2 line shown on sheet 15 of 24. Bid it as you see it.
7	Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Plan sheets 21 of 24 and 22 of 24. Where is the rebar paid for the new rebar shown in the "Structure Concrete Bridge" work? Per Section 51-1.23 of the Standard Specifications all work involved, complete in place shall be included in the item.
