Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=62-64, Furnish Signs, SQ-4,5, Furnish Signs

Question=The Furnished Roadside Sign Panel chart has incorrect ASTM Retro Reflective Types listed with respect to the BACKGROUND AND LEGEND. For example, Sign 140 R1-1 cannot have Type VII BACKGROUND and Type VIII LEGEND. Also, for most of the Regulartory and Warning signs they need to have the same ASTM Type Sheeting, either III or IV;not both. Some guide signs have a combination of both.

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Spec Section 90-6.03, para 7, requiring
concrete to be delivered and placed within 1.5 hours as it pertains to bid
items 84 & 85, minor concrete.
Also, Detail for Retaining Concrete Block per C - 12

Question=Minor concrete items are scheduled to be installed in multiple
stages, some of small quantities.  Concrete will probably be
purchased/delivered from source that will require considerable delivery
time.  Will Caltrans allow any addition of admixtures to extend the 1.5 hour
delivery & place time, and if so, what admixtures are acceptable?

  • Please bid the project per the current contract documents.

Detail for Retaining Concrete Block, sheet C - 12, indicates a variable
height (0.3 - 1.2) and variable depth of embeddment into ground (0.3 - 0.8).
The quantity shown on qty sheets would indicate it is all H = 1.2.  Where is
information indicating height of wall & depth of embeddment at each
location?

  •  Height as required per field conditions ( 0.3-1.2)

No rebar is indicated, will any rebar be required?

  • Plans do not indicate to use rebar
