Caltrans District 11 Construction Department has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better serve the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District 11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that Contract, but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory for public viewing.
The BIDDER'S INQUIRIES & RESPONSES will be updated continuously and all attempts will be made to do the final posting by 15:00 on Wednesday prior to the bid opening.

Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Item # 14 remove and reset figure joint plate. Sec. 10-1.19 Existing highway facilities -remove and reset joint plates. Plan sheets 10 and 12.  

Question # 1= How do we acces the area of pier 18 and 21 to look at athe work area prior to the bid?   

  • Please bid per the contract documents.
Question # 2= The plans show to remove and replace the existing 22mm HS countersunk bolts with new 22mm HS countersunk bolts. Are the double nuts with 76mm x 7mm plate washer to be new and if so what type of material and finish? Also, what type of material and finish are to be used for the new 100 x 100 x 7 mm plates between the new plate washer and the new laminated neoprene washers?   
  • Nuts and plate wahsers to be new as per sheet 12 of 18 of the project plans.
  • finish and material as per section 10-1.31 of the Special Provisions.

Question= Are the deck spalls shown on sheets #16 -  #18 different than the ones for bid item #12.   

  • Quantity for item 21 is as shown on sheet # 16 -  # 18.
  • Quantity for item 12 is as shown on sheet # 11.
