has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better
serve
the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District
11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by
any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that
Contract,
but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed
unsatisfactory
for public viewing.
The BIDDER'S

& RESPONSES will be updated continuously and all attempts will be
made
to do the final posting by 15:00 on Wednesday prior to the bid opening.

Question=The note on plan sheet SW-27 states “EMBEDMENT FOR GLASS PANEL POSTS TO BE DETERMINED BY THE ENGINEER.” Does this refer to The Deputy Director Transportation Engineering or does it refer to the designer of the glass system? If it refers to the Caltrans Engineer, will the Engineer make that determination and provide details prior to the bid?

glass panels with a 15 mm thickness. Glass is not manufactured in
metric
sizes. The two nearest standard glass sizes to 15 mm is ½” and
¾”.
All others would be special order. Please indicate what equivalent size
(in inches) Caltrans wants to match the 15 mm call-out.
