The responses may be considered along with all other information furnished to prospective bidders for the purpose of bidding on the project. The availability or use of information provided in the responses to bidder' inquiries is not to be construed in any way as a waiver of the provisions of Section 2-1.03 of the Standard Specifications or any other provision of the contract, the plans, Standard Specifications or Special Provisions, nor to excuse the contractor from full compliance with those contract requirements. Bidders are cautioned that subsequent responses or contract addenda may affect or vary a response previously given.
Caltrans District 11 Construction Department has developed this method of answering Bidder's Inquiries to better serve the needs of the Contractors who bid on our Projects. Caltrans District 11 Construction Department will post all of the questions submitted by any of the contractors that are registered Planholders for that Contract, but reserves the right to not answer any questions deemed unsatisfactory for public viewing.
The BIDDER'S INQUIRIES & RESPONSES will be updated continuously and all attempts will be made to do the final posting by 15:00 on Wednesday prior to the bid opening.

 Plan Sheet / Specification Reference=Question 1  Section 4 Beginning of Work, paragraph four. Question 2  White snails observed within project limits.

Question=Section 4 Beginning of Work, etc, paragraph four states the work in Area A must be completed within 30 working days of being notified to start work in Area A. Will the grading by others in Area A be completed prior to 8/1/05 and/or the installation of the irrigation system for the remainder of the project?

  • The work in Area A (County of SD Permit) will possibly not be completed by 8/1/05  and the installation of the irrigation system in the remainder of the site will be at the pace of the contractor who is awarded the bid.
Question 2  We walked the site on April 22, 2005 and observed an abundance of white snails with the the project limits.  Are there any special environmental and/or agricultural permits and/or requirements due to the presence of the snails?
  • There are no special requirements regarding the handling of white snails at the present on this contract.
Question 3   Information Handout, Materials Information Brochure, Optional Disposal Site.  Will a Encroachment permit be required to dispose of material in the two areas identified?  Are there any grading requirements, such as slope height, slope, clearing/grubbing of existing vegetation and/or compaction?  Will permanent erosion control items such as fiber rolls and hydroseeding be required at the disposal sites once the work is complete?
  • Yes. A no fee encroachment permit will be required for disposal at the identified disposasal sites and the contractor is to comply with all of the encroachment permit's requirements.
