Question=CHARTS FOR WORKING IN LANE 2 AND 3 ALLOW THE CLOSURE OF THE THIRD LANE AT MIDNIGHT. WITH THE REQUIRED 4 HOUR CURE THIS LEAVES 1 HOUR TO DO THE FOLLOWING WORK.  PLACE RINFORCING STEEL MAT,  PLACE APPROACH SLAB TIE BARS, PLACE CONSTRUCTION JOINT AND POUR. THIS AMOUNT OF WORK TAKES LONGER THAN THE 1 HOUR ALLOWED BY THE TRAFFIC CHARTS. THE DEMOLITION AND EXCAVATION WORK IS PERFORMED PRIOR TO TAKING THE THIRD LANE. CAN YOU SUPPLY ADDTIONAL TRAFFIC CONTROL CHARTS TO ALLOW A LONGER WORK WINDOW?

•  By allowing closures at 9 PM for lane 3 or  4 most traffic control features could be placed in advance so that time for closure setup is lessen. Moreover, closure for lane 1 and 2 is allowed at 10:00 PM  the same can be applied for lane 3 and 4. Also,  standard plan T10A " Lane Closure with Partial Shoulder Use," of the Standard Plans  is available for its use  so that traffic is moved further away. In addition, attention is directed to subsection "Temporary Roadway Structural Section," under section 10-1.32 "Structure Aproach Slabs (Type R)," of the Special Provisions.

• In the past, on other contracts, the  length and the  closure has been limited to do this type of work so that set up time is lessen.

Question=IS THERE ANY RELIEF FROM THE 4 HOUR CURE REQUIREMENT? IF THE RAPID STRENGTH CONCRETE IS USED WILL THE CURE TIME BE SHORTENED?

• Concrete shall be placed as per section 10-1.32 "Structure Approach Slab (Type R)," of the Special Provisions.

Question= 1- Refrence Sheets 13,27, 28,45, 51 and 72 of the plans. The requirements of construction including the removal of existing MBGR or bridge rail, installation of Type WB Transition Rail at Locations 3,4,13 and 14 are the same as Location 20, 21, 23 and 24. All eight locations call for Type 12 B guard rail layout as shown Standard Plan A77F1. However, no minor Concrete End Post, Temporary K rail, Temp Crash Cushions are provided for at locations,     3,  4 , 13 and 14. Request that you clarify your intention.

•  It  is not necessary to place Modified MBRG Connection at location 3, 4, 13, and 14 because the new Type WB transitions is to be attached to the existing conrete to where the existing MBGR is attached to. Also, the contract does not calls for  the placement temporary Railing (type K),  traffic plastic drums, and temporary crash cushions at these locations. However, the work at these locations shall be perform so that an unsafe condition is not created. The work at these locations shall conform as per section 5-1.04 "Public Safety," of the Special Provisions. 

Question=1- Ref: Special Notice A+ B bidding, Special Provisions Section 4, Special Provisions Section 10-1.38- Your availability in providing the state furnished sign panels for overhead signs 120 days after award and after notification is a potential delay which seems inappropriate for A+B bidding on this job. Can the delivery of these state furnished materials be revised to a more reasonable time, for example, 20 work days after contractor's written request?

• The State has a contract with an outside sign supplier and it takes 120 days to furnish the signs due to the ordering process, manufactering, and the delivering. Therefore, this work should be bid in accordance to section 10-1.38 "Sign Panels," of the Special provisions. 

Question=1- Ref: Contract Items 33(F) and 45, various plans and Special provisions.Please provide a Special Provision section to define the requirements and method of measurement and payment for items 33(F) and 45.

• Item 33(F) is paid as per section 9-1.015 "Final Pay Items," of the Standard Specifications and  as per section 51 "Concrete Structures," of the Standard Specifications.

• Item 45 is measured by each (EA) as designated under "Unit of Measure," per the Special Provisions's Engineers Estimate. Payment is at contract unit price. In addition, in the section "the Amendments to the July 1999 Standard Specifications," of the Special Provisions page 42 reads as follows: Except for metal beam guard railing within the pay limits of a ternimal system end treatment or transition railing  (Type WB), metal beam guard railing will be measured by the meter along the face of the rail element from end post to end post of the completed railing at each installation.

Question=Traffic control charts for working the approach slabs allow a 3lane
work area for 7 hours on sunday.  The closing and opening of the lanes takes
1 hour.  The remaining time would be to construct the approach slab.  It
takes four hours for cure the remaining work cannot be accomplished in 2
hours.  Can additional traffic charts be deleloped to allow more time for
this work?

Question=#1. What is the NEW depth and width dimensions required 
for joint seal reservoir? #2. Type A1, A2 and Type B are not shown on 
project plans as specified in SP. What is meant by this? #3. What is the 
required depth of spall repair? Square Meter pay will not reflect 
 

• Section 10-1.28 "SEAL EXISTING CONCRETE PAVEMENT JOINT," of the Special Provisions describes all the requirements for transverse and longitudinal joints. Also, this section says that the work shall conform to the details as shown on the plans which are the Project Plans and the Standard Plans as per Section 5-1.04 "Coordinations and Interpretation of Plans, Standard Specifications, and Special Provisions," of the Standard Specifications. These details are shown on Standar Plan P20 of the Standard Plans "STANDARD PLANS July 2004."
