Plan Sheet /
Specification Reference=1) Specification section 5-1.04 "Public Safety";
Section 10-1.13 "Maintaining Traffic" and Traffic Charts1--6.
2) Specification Section 10-1.13 "Maintaining Traffic" 1)After reviewing
the project site in consideration of the of the underground work (I.e.
Inlets Pipes); pleaese provide some indication a to what Caltrans will
allow to protect the proposed improvements and public traffic. Example,
"VV-1"Line at Station 588+90.4, the worl requires to remove existing inlet,
extend existing CMP with RCP pipe and construct a new G-1 inlet.However,
this work is situated next to ETW for VV-1 line.Traffic chart #2 allows
closure of this rampfrom 10p-5a, M-TH. It would be unfeasible to complete
this work in (1) ramp closure shift, thus requiring the use of temporary
protection devices. The traffic chart does not allow the use of shoulder
closure eliminating use of K-Rail. also if K-Rails were to be utilized,
the K-Rail would encrouch into the active TW and reduce the lane width
to below the existing full width. My question is, will Caltrans allow the
use of trench plates in these locations, particularly at drainage system
1, with high approach speeds and the plates relation to the edge of TW?
