State Route 4

Project Overview

SR-4 Wagon Trail Realignment Project
The State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in coordination with Calaveras County Department of Public Works (County), is moving into the next phase of development for the State Route 4 Wagon Trail Realignment Project. Caltrans and the County have worked with the local property owners to develop alternative alignments that are environmentally conscious, cost effective, and meet current engineering standards. Through the public outreach process, several alternatives were identified as meeting the necessary criteria and these alternatives are now being advanced to the next stage of development, the Project Approval and Environmental Documentation phase, or PA/ED phase.

Alternative Alignments

In response to the feedback received at the October 24, 2013 public information meeting and property owner meetings, the design team has been working to refine the proposed alignments to minimize the impacts to property owners and the environment while at the same time meeting Caltrans design requirements. The results of this effort are reflected in the following updated exhibits. Please note that the driveway connections are still considered preliminary since more details remain to be worked out.
