State Route 138 Corridor Improvement Projects

THE PROJECT
The State Route 138 corridor will be widened from Avenue T in the City of Palmdale to the junction of State Route 18 in Llano. The corridor has been divided into several segments (phases), each of which is a separate widening project. The corridor will be widened, pending funding, to four lanes, two in each directions with a median turn lane and standard width shoulders. Drainage improvements will also be performed.
SUMMARY
Phase 1 widening in Pearblossom from Longview Road to 146th Street East was completed February 2006. Phase 2 widening from 146th Street East in Pearblossom to 165th Street East in Llano, which included a new single deck bridge, completed in October, 2007.
BENEFITS
The corrdor improvements will increase mobility, enhance safety, add capacity, relieve congestion and aid in the efficient movement of goods and services along State Route 138.
COST
$65.2 million
STATUS
Phases 3 widening in Littlerock from 96th Street East to 106th Street East, began in June, 2008. Estimated completion for phase 3 is fall, 2010. Phase 4 widening in Littlerock from 60th Street East to one mile east of 60th Street East, began in June, 2008. Estimated completion for phase 4 is summer, 2010.
SCHEDULE
Phae 5 widening near Llano from west of 165th Street East to west of 190th Street East is estimated to begin fall, 2010. Estimated completion for pahse 5 is spring, 2012. Phase 6 widening near Littlerock from 77th Street East to 87th Street Easr is estimated to begin winter 2010/2011. Estimated completion for phase 6 is spring, 2012.
