Caltrans Director Cindy McKim Visits District 7
“It’s easy to overlook the good things we do everyday,” said Caltrans Director Cindy McKim at a July 16 meeting with District 7 employees at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Ronald Deaton Auditorium. “I wish we could all have the opportunity to go out to the field and see firsthand the wonderful work Caltrans does.”
This was the new director’s first visit to District 7, where she came to introduce herself to the staff and discuss Department-wide issues. Mckim spoke about the budget situation, the history of transportation funding in the state, the transportation program, the importance of the Department's ability to meet delivery schedules in order to ensure federal funding, and "lifecycle" costing so that new projects can be maintained and operated after they are built.
A question and answer period followed, including questions about reimbursed work, reimbursing lost furlough pay and cost cutting at the district level.
