PHOTO HIGHLIGHT: Borchard Road Overcrossing Under Wraps
by  Kelly Markham
Issue Date: 08/2010

In recent weeks, the Borchard Road overcrossing above the southbound Ventura Freeway (US 101) has resembled an art installation by Christo – the environmental artist best known for wrapping buildings, bridges and monuments in fabric. The area beneath the overcrossing was draped in plastic sheeting while crews repaired damaged girders after the bridge was hit by a truck. In this case, the sheeting was used to contain lead-based paint, not to make an artistic statement. The project is expected to wrap up this month.
