PHOTO HIGHLIGHT: Landscaping Makeover
by  Kelly Markham
Issue Date: 03/2010

The south side of District 7 Headquarters got a landscaping facelift last month. The patchy grass that bordered 2nd Street was replaced with border boards, stakes and three types of mulch. The dark mulch around the trees represents Caltrans tunnels, the red mulch represents the southern San Gabriel Mountains, and the light mulch represents the sky. The new landscaping is more aesthetically pleasing than typical hardscape treatments and does not require irrigation, making it more environmentally friendly than vegetation.
