Executive Open House is a holiday tradition we can all enjoy.

The annual Holiday Open House, held last year on December 22, is a time for the District Director and Deputies to show their appreciation to Caltrans employees for all of their hard work throughout the year. This year’s event was held on the 13th Floor of the District headquarters. Employees were encouraged to take a break , meet and greet with the District Deputies and mingle with fellow employees.

This year’s event involved an elaborate set up of food and decorations. Many deputies brought homemade dishes to share with District employees; from External Affairs Deputy Director Deborah Robertson’s chocolate chip cookies, to District Director Doug Failing’s tofu pies, everyone who attended the Open House was treated to a bountiful spread of goodies.

In their end of the year message, District Director Failing and the Deputies stated, “When the day is done, (our employees) go home knowing that District 7 delivers first-class transportation projects- on time and under budget- over and over again.”

Following the Holiday Open House, employees where treated to a lunch-time concert performance by Caltrans’ own Traffic Jam. Band members Medardo De La Cruz, Fred Villanueva, Cecilio Burciaga, Rob Colvin, Gary Gordon, Greg Moore, Liz Ware, Johnny Robertson and Shay Banduk entertained the crowd with hits ranging from Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish” to Michael Buble’s “ Crazy Little Thing Called Love.”

Several people were involved in planning and executing the event. Those who worked in making this year’s Open House a success included Tammi Altamirano, Tanisha Butcher, Rhodora Cristobal, Jayne Crowder, Larry Diaz, Gary Gordon, Marcia Graves, Peter Jones, Yessica Jovel, Pam Kay, Ana Luevano, Marlene Martinez, Robbie Miles, Carmen Roberts, Tara Tucker and the Department of General Services. District 7 thanks them for their efforts.
