Roadside Rehabilitation Program Overview

Roadside rehabilitation provides for replacement and rehabilitation of existing vegetation damaged by extreme weather (drought or freezing conditions), acts of nature, or deterioration in order to integrate the facility with the adjacent community and surrounding environs.  Roadside rehabilitation also provides erosion control to comply with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements.  These projects also include strategies that improve traveler and worker safety by reducing the frequency and duration of maintenance workers’ exposure to traffic.
