Response #2:Per the Special Provisions under clauses added to 2015 Standard Specifications 14-6.03A (page number 23 sand 24), bird protection is identified to be installed or ordered by Caltrans. Per 2015 Standard Specification 14-6.03B the same language is stated but in addition it is stated that the work for BIRD PROTECTION are change order work. This project added BAT PROTECTION as a pay item because the item is not covered under the standard specifications for information and payment (not change order work.Response posted 08/26/2018
Response #2:The Supplemental Project Information - Information Handout Asbestos and Lead-Containing Paint Survey Report and Special Provisions specification in section 14-11.16 indicates asbestos potential being identified in the shims of the bridge railing, there is no design work that is anticipated to disturb the railing and shims by the contract work. However, since there is known asbestos in the project limits an Asbestos Compliance Plan shall be prepared and the pay items (140003-Item #11 and 035883-Item #13) are applicable and part of the contract.
