Inquiry #1: Please verify the bid quantity for Item 47, "12" Rumble Strip (Asphalt Concrete Pavement)." The quantities on Plan Sheet Q-4 appear to duplicate the quantities on Plan Sheet Q-6, and the quantities on Plan Sheet Q-5 appear to duplicate the quantities on Plan Sheet Q-7.

Inquiry #2: Does the smoothness specification apply to this project? We noticed that there are no pay items for inertial profiling, pre & post grinding.

Inquiry #3: Reference is made to the two construction details on the bottom of Plan Sheet C-25 for cold plane AC pavement adjacent to curb and gutter, and to existing MBGR. The AC overlay thickness is 0.15'. Grinding to a depth of 2.5" or 3" at the EP as shown in the construction details will be problematic requiring two lifts of paving or resulting in variable densities. It seems that a grinding depth at EP of 0.15' would be appropriate in both situations. Please confirm.

Inquiry #4: Typically Caltrans breaks the striping down by the type (Solid, Broken 36-12, Broken 17-7, Broken 12-3 and so forth. Also Caltrans has included in the 6" total all the 8" striping. Can Caltrans issue an addendum and a delay in the bid date to correspond with the changes necessary to properly bid the project.

Inquiry #5: The quantity of the reflective pavement markers is no corresponding with the traffic striping quantities on plan sheet 40. For Example the Detail 12 From PM 30.3 to PM R34.6 show no markers in the adjacent columns. There are similar discrepancies on all the marker quantity lines. This needs correction in order to properly bid on the project.

Inquiry #7: All the inquiries to date have yet to be answered by Caltrans. There are some serious discrepancies that could result in a substantial errors in execution of the work.
