Inquiry #1: Where is the removal of the existing Concrete median located on Highway 198 and Road 180 to be paid, as the quantity sheets do not appear to address it in either of the concrete removal items or the Roadway Ex quantities shown in the summary of quantities sheets.

Response #2:
The removal of the existing concrete median located on Highway 198 at Road 180 is included in the quantity of roadway excavation and is paid for as such. This quantity is shown in the ‘Roadway Quantities’ table on sheet Q-4 under the row for ‘Sta 322+11.00 to Sta 335+70.00, Median Left Turn Pockets’.

Inquiry #2: In stage 1 Phase 1 the contractor is to widen the outside shoulder of the existing East bound lanes near station 220+00 to near 419+00. The stage construction and traffic handling plans do not show any K-Rail being placed on the outside shoulder in order to complete this work. The typical cross sections for this area show Road Ex, AB and HMA to be placed. This will require more than a 12 hour closure window in order to complete. Will the state please add in the required quantity of K-rail to do this work.

Inquiry #4: Based on the detail shown on sheet C-7 it looks as though the contractor is to remove material outside of the existing pavement structural section in order to place shoulder backing. On sheet Q4, Summary of quantities, no grading work is shown to be done from Sta 58+14-STA 475+58, which is contradictory to the amount of shoulder backing required in this area. Which would require excavation according to sheet C-7. Will the state please provide additional Road Ex quantity for this work or revise the detail on sheet C-7?
