Inquiry #1: In spec section 14-11.08C, the State provides the limits of the Z-2 Lead material. Based on the lengths given in this section, if the contractor assumes a 6' wide and 1' deep area for the 7,780 LF as stated in the specifications the contractor comes up with about 4 times as much Z-2 material to off-haul. Will the state either increase the quantity, or specify the areas on the layout sheets that are contaminated? Also, will the state please clarify if the Z-2 Material is a final pay item?

Inquiry #2: How does the State plan to pay for the removal of the existing structural sections in the median? Typically, the State utilizes 190101 Roadway Excavation for this scope.

Inquiry #3: Will the state please add a minor concrete bid item for the backfill of the 660' of slotted drain, and a detail showing how the slotted drain matches up with the adjacent finished grade in between clean-outs?

Inquiry #4: Plan sheet C-1 through C-9 are pavement elevation plans that show elevations to the thousandths every 50 feet. Are these elevations to be adhered to? Are the outside elevations where the new pavement ties to the existing pavement going to meet these exact elevations shown on the plans C-1 through C-9? Wouldn't the existing paving determine these elevations? Are there tolerances to these elevations or is the Contractor going to be held to meet these elevations to the thousandth?

Response #2:Existing pavement should be conformed to and Standard Specification 19-1.03C Grade Tolerance should apply. The Department places stakes and marks under Chapter 12, "Construction Surveys," of the Department's Surveys Manual.
