Inquiry #1: Please clarify aluminum storefront system requirements.
• Clarify thermal requirements for project. Requirements listed in Spec. Section 99-84113, 2.1.J cannot be met with thermally broken storefront and glazing specified in Section 99-08810B(2) Glazing.

• Clarify aluminum storefront system glazing plane. Spec Section 99-084113, 2.3.A.3 calls for the glazing plane to be a FRONT Set storefront system. Plan details show all storefront systems to be a CENTER set storefront system.

• Clarify if aluminum entrance doors are to be thermal doors. Specifications do not call for thermal doors, only reference doors to have an overall thickness of 2”. Reference Section 99-084113, 2.5.A.1. Architectural details in plans show both thermal and non-thermal door details.

Inquiry #2: I do not see any mention of builders risk for this project-whether it is to be required of F&H Construction or whether the State is providing. If the State will provide, we would like to know what the deductible is for F&H Construction and our subs.

Inquiry #3: Section 99-074213.19, Part 2.2.B.3 and 2.2.B.4 specify "Panel Thickness: 2.0 inches" and "Thermal Resistance Value (R-value): R-14..." respectively.

Drawing Sheet A0-043, Wall Type 1A and 1B call for "3" Insulated Metal Wall Panel System (R-21 Min)."

Please confirm all Insulated Metal Wall Panel Systems are to be 3" thickness (R-21 Min.).

Inquiry #4: Reference Bid Item #29, Remove Base and Surfacing. If it is the Contractor's intent to send the spoils generated by this scope of work (asphalt and aggregate base) to a recycling facility for processing, are these spoils still considered a Type H soil per SP14-11.11. Must these spoils still be transported to a hazardous waste facility per SP14-11.11?

Special Provision Division XI Building Construction; Section 99-051200 "Structural Steel Framing", Paragraph 2.8 "Shop Priming", A.6 says do not prime steel surfaces enclosed in interior construction. Is the building structural steel on this project considered enclosed in interior construction, or is shop priming required?

Response #2:Structural steel on this project is not a separate bid item. It is included in the lump sum bid item for building work. Therefore it is not eligible for partial payment for materials on hand.

Please clarify on bid item 17 and 18 the work to be done to reconstruct the security metal sliding gate and fence. Show pictures or details of work to be done.

Drawing L-1 shows Security Metal Fence, please provide the specs for the type of metal fence.

There is no bid item for this work to be done, linear footage of the fence, 2 sliding gates and 1 double gate

Question #4
There is a double gate, please provide details of the type of hardware needed for this gate.

Question #5
There are two sliding gates at the entrance, are they to be opened automatically?, if they are please provide the specs for the gate motors.

Question #6
Along Burma Road, there is a big pipe that carries some kind of dangerous gas, Last time we worked in the same area, we were told to hand dig in this area, Are we going to get compensated since we can not use a bobcat to dig, or have this included in the bid item?

Inquiry #16: The list of bid items does not include any specific bid items for the landscaping, irrigation or the plant establishment work. All of the landscape, irrigation and planting drawings, (sheets 38 thru 51) states “Additive Bid Item” in the lower bottom right hand corner.

Section 78.23.01 States “ Section 78-23 includes specifications for performing additive work. This project includes additive work shown as additive bid item 1. The sum of the amounts for the work items in the table titled “Additive Work Items” must equal the lump sum price bid for additive bid item 1.”

Section 78-23 also references Section 20 Landscape as the applicable section related to the added work referenced in Section 78-23.

Notice to Bidders states the following

• Complete the work, excluding the plant establishment work within 300 working days.
• Complete the work, including the plant establishment work within 550 working days.
• Complete the plant establishment work within 250 working days.

The Bid Item Schedule included in the Bid Documents does not include Additive Bid Item #1 nor has Addendum #1 and 2 addressed the missing bid item.

Please advise if a updated list of bid items will be provided by Cal Trans for the Additive Bid Item 1 work.
