Inquiry #2: The Special Provisions do not give any indication as to the ability to utilize moving closures for the installation of the traffic stripe. Will Caltrans allow this type of closure on this project?

Per the Standard Plans List in the Notice to Bidders and Special Provisions, “The standard plans sheets applicable to this Contract include those listed below.” Standard Plan T17 for Moving Lane Closures is intentionally not included in this list. Allowable closures are described in the Special Provisions in Section 12. Please bid per the current contract documents.

Inquiry #3: The AVMS sign structure shown on Plan Sheet E-1 (90) has a 22' X 5' foundation. Are there any logs of test bore, or anything else that may show sub-grade & water table?

Inquiry #4: Bid Item 24 FDR-Foamed Asphalt - Based on our experience from previous projects with foamed asphalt, there is a significant amount of swell in this material once it is processed and graded. Has the State accounted for this surplus of material that will be generated once the final grading and compaction is complete? How will the contractor be compensated for handling and/or disposing this excess material?

Inquiry #5: The Project Geo-technical Report indicates that Blasting will not be permitted. However, the Special Provision make no mention of Blasting. Will blasting be allowed?

The Project Geo-technical Report is incomplete. All the attachments were not included with the report.
