Caltrans District 9 Environmental Division
McNally Shoulder Widening Project
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to widen the paved shoulders and place ground-in skip rumble strips on US 6 for 4.1 miles in Inyo county from 0.35 mile north of Silver Canyon Road to the Mono County line and in Mono County for 0.8 mile from the Mono/Inyo County line to 0.14 mile north of Pumice Mill Road. The shoulders will be widened from the current width of 2-4 feet to the standard width of 8 feet. The project will also construct ground-in skip shoulder rumble strips along the project length in both directions and repair/replace terminal ends of culvert pipes.
Caltrans has studied the effects this project may have on the environment. Our studies show it will not significantly affect the quality of the environment.
