Butte State Route 99 Intelligent Transportation System Project

DESCRIPTION

This project proposes to install and implement Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) elements on State Route 99 from Estates Drive to Garner Lane in Chico (PM 28.3/T37.8).

PROJECT BENEFITS

Purpose: The purpose of this project is to improve safety, more efficiently manage traffic operations, reduce congestion and decrease peak-hour delays on Highway 99 through the project limits by monitoring traffic and providing information to help motorists make informed travel decisions.

Need: Fully build out ITS infrastructure within the project limits. If improvements are not done and elements installed, the Highway 99 corridor through Chico will remain inefficient and difficult to manage.

FUNDING BREAKDOWN

Funding: The project is funded from the State Highway Operations and Protection Program SB1 315 Program in fiscal year 2020-21.
