El Dorado U.S. Highway 50 Hot Mix Asphalt Overlay Project


DESCRIPTION

This is a Highway Maintenance project located on U.S. Highway 50 in El Dorado County. Project limits begin from the west end of Sawmill Undercrossing (post mile 28.8) and end to the west of South Fork American River Bridge (post mile 38.8). The proposed project will overlay the existing roadway with 0.10' of rubberized hot mix asphalt. Local road approaches will be cold planed and repaved with hot mix asphalt.


PROJECT BENEFITS

Purpose: The purpose of the project is to preserve the drivability and serviceability of this section of Route 50.

Need: This portion of Highway 50 contains alligator cracking, rutting, delaminating and is degrading such that a Highway Maintenance program is needed to preserve the existing roadway.


FUNDING BREAKDOWN

The Project Approval and Environmental Document (PA&ED) work and the Design support components are being funded from the State Highway’s Major Maintenance Program. The Construction Support and Capital expenses are funded from the SB1 Program.

Capital Cost: $5,575,425
Total Project Cost: $6,175,425
