District 12 - Acting District Director
Adnan Maiah serves as the acting District 12 Director overseeing planning operations, design, constructing, operations and
maintenance of the California State Highway System in Orange County.
In his prior role as Deputy District Director for the Capital Outlay Support Program, Adnan was responsible for the offices
of Construction, Design, Program/Project Management, and Right of Way.
Adnan joined Caltrans in 1992, and has held numerous key positions in Program/Project Management, and Office of Design. For
the last 11 years, Adnan has led District 12 with an impressive 100% delivery of the annual Contract for Delivery
with Headquarters. In previous years Adnan provided District 12 direction in delivery of a portfolio of projects
worth over $5.3 million consisting of in-house, Caltrans, as well as local oversight projects. Adnan’s knowledge
of State, Federal and local transportation programming of funds has allowed Caltrans, its partners, and its stakeholders
to maximize funding opportunities and realize maximum benefit from investments in infrastructure.
Adnan’s expertise has been a key factor in the successful delivery of numerous high profile and complicated Capital Outlay
projects such as: Interstate 5, State Route 74 Interchange Project and the State Route 91 Widening Project. Among
his major accomplishments was the successful delivery of the first design-build project completed on an active
freeway in California, the $560 million State Route 22 High Occupancy Vehicle Widening Project. Adnan's expertise
in design-build construction is an essential asset as construction begins on Orange County’s largest project
to date, the $1.9 billion Interstate 405 Improvement Project.
Adnan’s educational background includes Bachelor and Master of Science degrees with a concentration in Structural and Civil
Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering.
