Canyon Acres Drive Safety Project

The project proposes to address the high number of sideswipe and rear-end type of accidents due to hazardous weaving conditions at the intersection of Canyon Acres Drive and SR-133 (PM 0.86-1.2) in Laguna Beach. The project will  extend the existing second northbound through lane in order to relocate the beginning of the lane reduction transition farther north from the signalized intersection and provide a standard lane drop taper. Construction activities include applying rubberized hot mix asphalt (RHMA), asphalt concrete (AC), and Class 2 Aggregate Base for the new lane and shoulder. Existing striping, pavement markers and signs will be removed and new striping, signs and safety merging lights installed. Total of five power poles will be relocated and. All work will occur within the state right-of-way.  The disturbed soil area (DSA) will be less than 1 acre. The proposed project will be funded by state and federal funding.

You are invited to attend a public information workshop to inform residents, businesses, and other organizations about the proposed improvements. This workshop will take place on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the interesction of Laguna Canyon Drive and Canyon Acres Drive in Laguna Beach, CA.
