Northbound I-5 Connector to Eastbound SR-905 Closed Thursday Night

SAN DIEGO——Caltrans crews will close the northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) connector to eastbound State Route 905 (SR-905) from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday night to install temporary guardrail.

Detour signs will direct motorists on northbound I-5 to exit at Coronado Avenue and travel west to southbound I-5, then eastbound on SR-905.

This work is part of a roadside safety improvement project in various locations in the region that include striping and pavement replacement.

Californians can expect more roadway improvement projects like this made possible by the recently passed Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, Senate Bill 1 (SB 1). Caltrans is committed to conducting its business in a fully transparent manner and detailing its progress to the public. For complete details on SB 1, visit

Caltrans reminds drivers to ‘Be Work Zone Alert’ by avoiding distracted driving, paying constant attention to traffic, and slowing down when approaching work zones.
