Southbound I-805 Connector to Eastbound SR-52 Closures
SAN DIEGO—Caltrans Maintenance crews closed the southbound Interstate (I-805) connector to eastbound State Route 52 (SR-52) this afternoon to make temporary repairs to a deteriorated bridge expansion joint found earlier in the day. The work is expected to take several hours to complete; however, one lane opened shortly after 4 p.m.
Sign trucks have been placed directing motorists on southbound I-805 to exit at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard east, then take northbound I-805 to eastbound SR-52.
Rubber bridge expansion joints allow expansion and contraction of the bridge between spans and protect the structure joints from dirt and debris. Caltrans determined that immediate repairs were needed.Visit www.dot.ca.gov/d11/ and follow @SDCaltrans on Twitter for current information on construction, closures, and major traffic incidents on state highways in San Diego and Imperial counties.
