East Palomar Street Bridge Over I-805 Reopens to Traffic

SAN DIEGO—The East Palomar Street Bridge over Interstate 805 (I-805) in Chula Vista reopened to traffic today at about 7 p.m. One lane is open in each direction between Raven and Nacion avenues while crews complete construction on adjacent project features, including decorative fence and the Direct Access Ramp (DAR).  The DAR is expected to open in the coming weeks.

Additional construction activities, including work in the Park & Ride lots and landscaping of the construction area will continue after the DAR opens. Motorists are reminded to Be Work Zone Alert, to slow down and obey all signs and traffic control.

Please visit KeepSanDiegoMoving.com/I805South or call the project hotline at (888) 941-5005 for the latest construction information and updates.

The construction at East Palomar Street is part of the I-805 South Express Lanes Project, a $1.1 billion effort to create a modern new transportation backbone for South County. The project will provide a connection between East Palomar Street and I-805 for South Bay Rapid when the transit service begins in 2018.
