SR 99 - Livingston Median Widening

DESCRIPTION

Phase 1: Livingston Northbound Median Widening Project: The Livingston Northbound Median Widening Project consists of the construction of one freeway lane within the median in the northbound direction on SR-99, beginning just south of Hammatt Avenue at Post Mile (PM) 28.2 in Livingston and ending at the Merced/Stanislaus County line in Turlock.

Phase 2: Livingston Southbound Median Widening Project: The Livingston Southbound Median Widening Project consists of the construction of one freeway lane within the median in the southbound direction on SR-99, beginning at the county line and ending at PM 28.2.

PROJECT BENEFITS

The need for the project is to address freeway capacity restrictions within the study limits, which is anticipated to reach or exceed existing capacity on or before the year 2030. Additionally, since the freeway on either end of the project is already widened to three lanes in each direction, this section of freeway is not consistent with the route concept/development and it is a bottleneck for freeway users. Thus, the purpose of the project is to add capacity to SR-99 by adding an additional lane within the median.

FUNDING SOURCE

The Northbound Project is funded through the design phase with the Interregional Transportation Improvement Program under the 2014 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). Construction funds were recently programmed by Senate Bill 1 (SB1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, in the Trade Corridor Enhancement Program (TCEP).

The Southbound Project is funded through the design phase with the Interregional Transportation Improvement Program under the 2014 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). Construction funds were recently programmed in the 2018 STIP.
